„Istorijski zapisi” predstavljaju najstariji naučni časopis u Crnoj Gori. Izdaje ga Istorijski institut Univerziteta Crne Gore od 1948, nastavljajući tradiciju časopisa „Zapisi“ koji je osnovan 1927. godine i izlazio je između dva svjetska rata.

Časopis je uglavnom orijentisan na radove koji se bave različitim aspektima crnogorske istorije, kao i ličnostima, događajima i procesima na širim prostorima, koji su imali uticaja na istoriju Crne Gore. Pored fokusa na istoriografiju, časopis okuplja naučnike različitih profilacija na multidisciplinarnim osnovama, od socioloških, politikoloških, arheoloških, filoloških do ekonomskih, demografskih i drugih sličnih istraživanja koja su fokusirana na ovaj dio Evrope.

Časopis je prepoznat kao odličan pregled radova velikog broja međunarodnih i regionalnih istraživača koji se bave temama relevantnim kako za njihove zemlje tako i za Crnu Goru. Shodno svom istorijatu, sadržaju i značaju za sistematizaciju i očuvanje crnogorske istorije, i sam je često tema i fokus stručnih i naučnih radova. Za istaknuti doprinos izučavanju istorije, povodom pedesete godišnjice izlaženja, 1977. godine odlikovan je Ordenom zasluga za narod sa zlatnom zvijezdom.

„Istorijski zapisi“ (COBISS.CG – ID 54807) su, trenutno,  uključeni  u više baza podataka, pri čemu izlaze četiri puta godišnje u štampanom (ISSN 0021-2652) i elektronskom izdanju (eISSN 2704-5188). Svi radovi koji se dostavljaju Redakciji časopisa prolaze kroz proces dvostruke, tzv. slijepe recenzije (autor i recenzent se ne poznaju).

Istorijski Zapisi/ Historical Records is the oldest scientific journal in Montenegro. It has been published by Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro since 1948, continuing the tradition of the journal Zapisi/Records that had been established in 1927 and published between two world wars.

The journal is mostly oriented to the papers dealing with all the aspects of the Montenegrin history, as well as personalities, events, and processes in wider geographic areas that had an impact on history of Montenegro. Beyond its focus on historiography, the Journal brings together scholars from diverse fields on a multidisciplinary basis, covering sociological, political, archaeological, philological, economic, demographic, and other similar researches with scientific focus on this part of Europe.

The Journal is widely acknowledged as an outstanding compilation of works by numerous international and regional researchers, tackling topics of significance both to their respective countries and to Montenegro. Owing to its rich history, comprehensive content, and vital role in the systematization and preservation of Montenegrin history, the Journal itself has frequently became a subject of professional and academic analysis itself. In recognition of its outstanding contribution in the field of history and historiography, the Journal was honored with the Order of Merit for the People with a Golden Star in 1977, marking its 50th anniversary.

The Journal Istorijski zapisi/Historical Records (COBISS.CG – ID 54807) has been included in several databases and issued quarterly in print (ISSN 0021-2652) and online edition (eISSN 2704-5188). All submissions to the Journal’s Editorial Board are subject to double-blind review (the author and reviewer remain anonymous).
